This original botanical print of a protea captures the beauty of this flower. The work is titled 'Protea' and is signed and dated by the artist (2016).  These prints look stunning on their own or in a series of three.

Cyanotype is a photographic printing process, using the sun for developing an image, that results in a cyan-blue print. Each print is either a direct photogram of leaves and objects or a contact print from specially prepared digital negatives. These are produced by image manipulation of original photographic images from artist Mollie Bosworth’s collection.

The work is presented in a simple white frame made in Australia and is protected by a lightweight clear perspex (ensuring safe travel).

Dimensions: image size 21cm x 29cm; frame size 30cm x 38cm.

Product Description

Artist: Mollie Bosworth

About the artist:

Mollie Bosworth is an established artist living and working from her studio in Kuranda in far north Queensland, Australia. Mollie has exhibited widely and she has won many awards. Her work is held in public and private galleries. Mollie uses an intensive hands-on process and each print is treated individually to give each one unique characteristics.

This historic photographic printing process, cyanotype, that uses two iron salts and the sun for developing an image, was discovered in 1842 by Herschel. In 1843 Anna Atkins produced her book on British algae, illustrated with cyanotype photograms, which was the first printed book illustrated with a body of photographic illustrations. In the cyanotype botanical range Mollie explores this art form.
