Waratah (Telopea) is an Australian species, the most well-known of which has bright red flowers and is the NSW state floral emblem. It is native to the south-eastern parts of Australia (New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania). The name Waratah comes from the Eora people, the first people of the Sydney area.
As an added detail, each piece has the plant flora species, Waratah, engraved on the foot rim.
